CONSULTATIONS FOR ASD CHILDREN/ADULTS

The Defeat Autism Now! doctors and scientists believe that autism is what happens as a result of malfunctioning in a child's biochemistry. This usually involves problems with detoxification (removal of toxins from the body); nutritional deficiencies, gut problems, and immune system problems. The underlying conditions can be identified through scientific testing and treated biomedically, leading to great improvements in many children.

Generally speaking, the earlier the treatment, the better the chance of recovery. Some children have actually lost their diagnosis of ASD. I do confidently expect the vast majority of children to make significant improvements, if their parents are committed to the protocol.

I advise parents to be aware that during the initial consultation(s) we shall be discussing: -

  • How to trial/implement a gluten-free and casein-free diet. A diagnostic laboratory test is available to ascertain the need for this type of diet.
  • How to remove additives, sugar, processed foods and drinks from the diet.
  • Diagnostic laboratory testing (see testing page).
  • The use of nutritional supplements, and which ones to start with first.

I strongly recommend parents read Dr. Jacquelyn McCandless' book, Children with Starving Brains - A Medical Treatment Guide for Autistic Spectrum Disorders, 2nd edition, ISBN 1-883647-10-X. Dr. McCandless is one of the leading biomedical doctors in the United States and is treating her own granddaughter under the biomedical protocol developed by the Defeat Autism Now! movement. This book is written for parents so they can understand and collaborate with the biomedical protocol. Buy it here.

Another excellent book (and probably an easier read) is 'Healing the New Childhood Epidemics'
by Kenneth Bock M.D.

I expect to be advised every 5 - 6 weeks of progress being made, even if only by phone. Expect the programme to continue for at least one year. This may seem a long time and be off putting. However, initially give the programme three months to see improvements, probably a lot sooner, and by then you will be committed to seeing the programme through.

If you wish to make an appointment, please e mail autism-aspergers@burkehouse.wanadoo.co.uk and you will be sent a questionnaire to complete and return. During the initial consultation itself I will be asking more questions particularly with regard to the mother's medical history.

Fees

Charge for new patient consultation at the Chester Clinic: £120.

Follow up consultations (in Clinic or by telephone): £60 for 45mins.

Do not give up. I understand the desperation that some of you parents may be feeling - but I can assure you that most of my patients have made good progress on the biomedical protocol.
