I am a Nutritional Therapist with a busy practice
in the North West of England, bordering Wales. I am committed to
helping children and adults to recover as best they can from Autistic
Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). I have been following the breakthrough
treatments from America for many years now, long before my own child
was diagnosed with ASD in January 2002.
In the USA it is now being acknowledged that conditions
that are part of the autism spectrum can overlap. Hence I followed
the guidelines of these physicians and scientists at the forefront
of the movement. Unfortunately, although the protocol developed
by the Defeat Autism Now! movement came about in 1996, it was in
its infancy then. Now it is much more developed with clearer guidelines
to follow.
In my child's case, even implementing the basics of
the protocol has helped with development enormously, and I believe
has staved off more severe developmental delays. My child is now
in the middle of the detox part of the protocol but the younger
a child starts the better. In particular, I wish I had known about
the research into damage caused by toxins and the benefits of detoxification.
Defeat Autism Now!
The Defeat Autism Now! movement was formed in 1994
by Drs Rimland, Baker and Pangborn in the US. Its mission is to
provide parents and professionals with a consensus as to the safest
and most effective treatment options for children with developmental
problems on the autism spectrum.
Defeat Autism Now! conferences are now convened twice
a year in the States. A movement that started out with 30 researchers,
clinicians and parents now has hundreds of practitioners (including
medical doctors, nutritionists, naturopaths) and parents world-wide
who follow the consensus on treatment.
Many of the practitioners are parents or relatives
of children with ASD themselves. I myself follow the protocol developed
by the Defeat Autism Now! movement with my own child, and would
love to help your child with ASD.
